As a young girl, Karin spent hours collecting, drawing, cutting, and pasting images to create new worlds. As an adult and busy mother of four children, she painted and worked as a graphic designer, but didn’t feel that she had the patience to create original art that was as beautiful as she wanted. It wasn’t until she took a Unisa course in Photoshop, seven years ago, that she discovered her medium. Since then, Karin, a self-confessed fanatic, works with Photoshop for hours every day.
Each of Karin’s images is the result of a painstaking process. Images are built up meticulously, layer by layer. Karin begins with a photograph of a model. She first started using old family photographs, placing relatives in weird and wonderful settings.
