Ton Hendriks works for several magazines, mainly in the field of editorial portrait photography. Besides his assignments he also makes his own documentary projects, for which he has received several grants.

The Photos shown here are from two different projects: “African Village” and “the Wild Coast”

For the series “the Wild Coast” he photographed the people of Surinam, a former Dutch colony in South America. Hereby he focused on people of different ethnis groups, their identity and social background. For the serie African Village he visited the small village New Ayoma, in Ghana. But instead of focusing on poverty he decided to look at the slow pace of life, the intimacy of the people and the beauty of a small community.
