Martin Kharumwa is a Ugandan photographer working mostly in East Africa. In 2008, he won the Sony World Photography Award for his image entitled Itch and from there he decided to work towards becoming a professional photographer.
He assisted photographers in London, had some of his gig photography published, before deciding to move back to Uganda to develop his craft and portfolio.
His clients include the Uganda German Culture Center (Goethe), shooting designer Gloria Wavamunno’s collections and the Nike Foundation in Rwanda.
He hopes to eventually influence the culture of photography in Uganda, and to inspire more local appreciation and support for photography.
